I am a potter with over thirty years experience. A lifetime interest in Archaeology, extensive research and many years studying and working with ceramics in Britain and Africa, all add to my understanding of ancient ceramics and early pottery making methods.
The making techniques I employ and equipment I use are, as far as possible, the same as those used by the original prehistoric potters. I work closely with Archaeologists and my pots are based on actual excavated examples. I make every effort to emulate the clay body, surface finishes, tool marks and firing conditions of the originals. All Neolithic pots, Bronze-Age pots and most Iron-Age pots are entirely hand built using locally sourced clays. Open or Pit firing completes the process giving the pots the look and feel of their ancient ancestors.
I offer a wide variety of workshops, talks and demonstrations and the following are just a few of the possibilities:
Lectures, Demonstrations and Workshops for all ages
